About the Speaker

Dr. Jian-Fu Liao is a senior research scientist at Culture Collection and Research Institute, SYNBIO TECH INC. He has over 15 years of professional-level research experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, and applied microbiology, all conducted at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, where he earned his Ph.D. degree. His research initially focused on the screening of functional natural herbs and lactic acid bacteria. Building on this foundation, his work has progressively evolved toward mechanistic studies and therapeutic applications of psychobiotics, in parallel with rapid advances in human microbiome and gut–brain axis research. He has contributed multiple publications demonstrating that novel probiotic strains can modulate limbic neurotransmission and attenuate neuroinflammation in disease-model rodents, highlighting their potential to alleviate symptoms of depression, Tourette syndrome, and neurodegenerative diseases. After joining SYNBIO TECH INC., he also explores novel model organisms and multi-omics platforms to develop functional microorganisms and address industry-relevant challenges.
