About the Speaker
Dr. Elvina Parlindungan is a Scientist at the Singapore Institute of Food and Biotechnology Innovation (SIFBI), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore. Her research focuses on the discovery and functional characterization of probiotic, postbiotic, and synbiotic ingredients for applications in food, nutrition, and consumer care. She leads industry- and innovation-driven projects in microbial fermentation, biotransformation, and clean-label ingredient development, including collaborations with Procter & Gamble, and currently leads projects in the biotics field for food and consumer care applications. Dr. Parlindungan completed her postdoctoral training at the renowned APC Microbiome Ireland, University College Cork, where she investigated microbial host–phage interactions in dairy Lactococci and Streptococci, as well as probiotic characterization of Lactobacilli from artisanal dairy foods. She earned her PhD in Applied Biology and Biotechnology in 2019, and her work has been recognized internationally with awards from Yakult (UK), the Royal Society of Victoria (Australia), and the International Association for Food Protection (USA).
