About the Speaker

Prof. Tzu-Ming Pan is currently an honorary professor of National Taiwan University, a director of the Taiwan Society of Microbiology, the Taiwan Society of Agricultural Chemistry, the Taiwan Health Food Society and the Taiwan Society of Lactic Acid Bacteria. Dr. Pan was a professor of National Taiwan University for a total of 33 years, and also served as the head of the Department of Biochemical Science Technology for 9 years. After retiring in 2015, Dr. Pan served as the chief technology officer of SunWay Biotechnology Company, responsible for the company's research and development work. His research interesting focuses on: (1) production of active secondary metabolites of red yeast rice and probiotics, and (2) industrialization of red yeast rice and probiotics. Professor Pan has published a total of 438 academic papers, of which 148 are related to red yeast rice and 67 are related to probiotics. Dr. Pan was awarded the IFT Fellow of the Institute of Food Technologists in 2012 for his outstanding research on the health benefits of red yeast rice and probiotics.
