About the Speaker
Prof. Teck Chwen Loh received his Ph.D. in animal production from the Imperial College at Wye, University of London, and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Universiti Putra Malaysia. His research focuses on animal nutrition, including feed additives, raw materials and agro-byproducts, emphasising least-cost feed formulation and balanced diet without compromising the growth performance of animals. This will enhance productivity as it affects food security and sustainability. Before he was appointed the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, he served as the Director of the University Community Transformation Centre and Head of the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, UPM. His expertise in animal nutrition and production enables him to further explore the use of local agro-byproducts, particularly in non-ruminant feeding. He has published at least 165 papers in journals and 6 patents obtained by him and his team members. Dr Loh was the President of the Society of Asian-Australasian Animal Production (2016-2018) and the Malaysian Society of Animal Production (2018-2020). In early 2017, he was invited by the Research Council of the United Kingdom (now known as UK Research and Innovation, UKRI) to serve as a panel member. Currently, he is serving as one of the college members for UKRI. He is also a member of the expert panel for the Institute of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China. He is the president of the Asian Association of Agricultural Colleges and Universities and the International Society for Southeast Asian Agricultural Sciences (Malaysian Branch). Recently, he was conferred the title of Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (2025).
