About the Speaker

Dr. Wei-Kai Wu (吳偉愷) is a physician-scientist whose research focuses on the gut microbiome, nutrition, and their roles in metabolic and cancer biology. He has made key contributions to identifying microbial pathways responsible for trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) production and to developing diagnostic tools such as the oral carnitine challenge test for precision nutrition. Dr. Wu has published widely in high-impact journals including Gut, Microbiome, Gut Microbes, and npj Biofilms and Microbiomes, and currently serves as Associate Editor of Gut Pathogens. His work has been recognized with multiple honors, including the Outstanding Research Award from National Taiwan University Hospital and several international early-career investigator awards.
